We would like to introduce our non-profit charitable organization, formed in 2000 shortly after our founder; Carmela Short was diagnosed with the disease.

Our sole purpose is to provide financial assistance, moral support, and educational information to any man, woman or child in need of assistance while suffering the burdens of this disease as well as other forms of cancer.

Carmela passed away in March of 2003, but her legacy lives on through this wonderful organization.

Since the forming of “Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer”, we have raised over $240,000. Since we are strictly run by volunteers, approximately .98 cents of every dollar we raise directly helps someone in need.

Here are just a few examples of how we have helped:

• Paid Medical Insurance Premiums

• Paid rent & utility bills of a patient unable to work during her treatment

• Paid for a special bed for patient with cancer of the spine

• Paid for home cleaning services for a cancer patient

• Paid for transportation costs to special school for sick child

 We sponsor a scholarship fund at PlainedgeHigh School. For 2005 we will grant 7 $1000 scholarships. The students we are awarding all have had a family member affected by cancer.

Each year we hold a Golf Outing & Dinner Dance in efforts to raise money. We are currently a beneficiary organization for the LI 2Day Walk to fight Breast Cancer.

“Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer” is reaching out to you for any support you are able to give.
